This course is designed for people who would like to learn the Setswana language and culture. The basic introduction to Setswana (itse loleme le ngwao ya Setswana) is offered through the Corporate Training Department at Botho University. It’s a ten-week programme whose purpose is to provide learners with the minimally required knowledge of the Setswana language to enable them to say hello, construct short sentences and understand basic communication made in Setswana. This course will help the students embrace and understand both the Setswana language and culture.

This programme was developed in a multi-disciplinary private university, made up of staff and students from different countries who are willing to learn the local language. This programme will equip learners with the basic knowledge and skills needed to communicate in both verbal and written Setswana. It is necessary for expatriates who are hoping to get the Botswana citizenship. It will also allow individuals to effectively communicate with the elderly in Botswana who do not understand English.
